Palos Verdes Learning Center

At the same time, the idea of promoting the learning of science in general and physics in particular is revived. Currently this initiative is in a development stage, with the purpose of formally establishing itself in the future and becoming a platform for scientific dissemination and training with a greater scope.

A place to talk
Storyboard
In 2023 we decided to stay a few more years in the Los Ríos Region after my retirement. For this we built our house on the coast, passing the Palo Muerto bridge, on the way to Huape, before Chaihuín and the Futa Verde reserve. Remembering the many times we were in Los Angeles, California, we named this place Palos Verdes.
Our idea is that this house will be, over the next few years, our base to continue spreading knowledge in physics. It will be our home, but also a small center from which to continue developing projects and sharing experiences. Although we do not have rooms to carry out massive activities - which we will continue to offer virtually or traveling where necessary - we do have a warm and welcoming space, a blackboard and the ideal environment to talk, exchange ideas and dedicate time to what has always been our greatest passion: understanding nature and sharing that knowledge with others.

In contact with nature

From the house we enjoy a privileged view of the Corral coast. Every day we observe hundreds of birds of numerous species while the waves break against the rocks at the foot of the property. The landscape constantly changes with the weather: rain advancing over the sea, strong winds that shape the waves, fog banks, spectacular sunsets and completely clear days, offering a unique opportunity to contemplate a wide variety of meteorological phenomena.
At night, the almost total absence of light pollution transforms the place into an excellent natural observatory. On clear days it is possible to contemplate a starry sky of extraordinary quality, an experience that has reawakened my interest in astronomy and that, over time, I hope to share by incorporating a section dedicated to this discipline on this same page.

An opportunity to live our science
Storyboard
We try to maintain an environment where it is natural to talk, debate, ask questions and even laugh. We believe that learning comes more easily when there is trust to exchange ideas and enjoy the process. Thus, what begins as a job ends up becoming a true adventure of exploration in the world of knowledge.
In the photograph, sharing one of those days with a group of alumni, many of whom today are colleagues and friends with whom we continue to exchange ideas and learn together.

Always with the great in spirit
Storyboard
There is no meeting in which those who marked the development of science do not appear, in one way or another. Their ideas, their writings, and the countless anecdotes told about them continue to inspire our conversations and remind us that knowledge is built on the shoulders of those who came before us.
Here, sharing with "Uncle Alberto", Richard - who can never be missing - and Paul. For those who don't recognize them: Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman and Paul Dirac, three extraordinary scientists whose contributions continue to guide generations of physicists.

We are waiting for you

We hope to be able to stay a few more years in this beautiful region, enjoying the sunset of our lives and continuing with the work that we have always been passionate about: learning, teaching and sharing knowledge.
