Dynamic Mode Identification

The identification of the dynamic mode determines in which kinematic-kinetic pattern the athlete operates at each moment: walk (M1), run (M2), sprint (M3), jump (M4), etc. The most universal criterion is the presence or absence of an aerial phase (double support in running, aerial phase in running). The Froude number (Fr = v²/(g·L_leg)) marks the walking-running transition at Fr 0.5. The leg stiffness k_leg and the contact time/flight time ratio identify whether the athlete operates in elastic-reactive mode (short CEA) or in concentric generation mode. Data from the force platform (GRF), 3D motion analysis system and EMG signals are combined to automatically classify the mode using quantifiable biomechanical criteria. Measured variables: CM speed (v_CM), contact time (t_c), flight time (t_v), GRF pattern. Determined values: active mode, Fr, k_leg, t_c/t_v ratio.
