If two bodies slide and roll respectively on an inclined plane, it is observed that the one that slips arrives before the base. The reason is that the potential energy is completely transferred to the kinetic energy of translation and thus to the speed. Unlike in the case of the body that rolls the potential energy has to be distributed between the kinetic energy of rotation and the one of translation with which the speed is lower.
