Statistical Econophysics

Title

Econophysics was born as a discipline when it was discovered that the distributions of economic variables (financial returns, wealth, company size, cities) do not follow the normal Gaussian distribution but rather power laws with heavy tails. This module is the statistical heart of canonical econophysics the one that justifies why Part A equilibrium models are valid local approximations at the center of the distribution, but dangerously inaccurate at the extremes where crises occur.
