Combination of validated self-report scales (VAS, NRS, DN4) with pressure algometry (pressure algometer/PPT) to quantify the intensity, threshold and spatial distribution of pain. It operationalizes the A3 model, measuring the mechanical overload on the tissues (P_c of the E4 model) and the inhibition of motor control (co-activation of the E6 model) secondary to pain. The PPT is the only objective physical measure of musculoskeletal pain available clinically.
