Tools that measure the fluxes of CO, HO, O and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) between the leaf and the atmosphere: IRGA with foliar chamber, ozone and VOC detectors (PTR-MS, GC-MS), and open flow chambers for soil emissions. They operationalize the E6 and E9 models and allow diagnosing the photosynthetic state with high mechanistic resolution, quantifying damage from contaminants and characterizing VOC emissions as a response to stress.
