Tools that measure the mechanical properties of plant tissues: Young's modulus (three-point bending test), wood density as a proxy for E and sigma_rupture, stem stiffness in the field, root architecture and applied wind load. They operationalize models E4 and E7 and allow the calculation of the structural safety factor (FOS) of trees, stems and branches both in forest management and in inspection of urban trees.
