It models the air humidity regime and its interaction with the plant: the vapor pressure deficit (VPD) as a thermodynamic driver of transpiration, the formation of dew (night condensation) as a complementary source of water in arid ecosystems, and the influence of relative humidity on foliar pathogens. VPD is the environmental variable most directly linked to water stress in high radiation conditions.
