A6 Dynamic Mode Failures
Title
Dynamic mode failures occur when the athlete's movement pattern deviates significantly from the optimal biomechanical mode for their task. This may be due to fatigue, injury, poor technique, or external conditions. In running, the collapse of the spring-mass model (insufficient k_leg, excessive contact time) indicates a degraded dynamic mode. In jumping, an incorrect take-off angle drastically reduces reach or height. In throwing, premature breakage of the kinetic chain (early activation of the distal segment before the proximal segment has reached its peak velocity) dissipates energy without effectively transferring it. The dynamic mode analysis is performed by comparing the observed kinematic and kinetic parameters with the reference parameters of the correct model. The deviation is quantified as the root mean square error (RMSE) between the observed and reference trajectory, or as the difference in key mode parameters (k_leg, flight time, takeoff angle).
